Guacamole

When it comes to guacamole we prefer a simple, no fuss recipe. This is a great base and we snack on it as is but if you prefer to jazz yours up a bit you could add diced tomatoes, onions, and cilantro.

Guacamole

To store guacamole simply spread it out in an even layer in an airtight container and then squeeze fresh lime juice over the top. Then either cover with an airtight lid or place a piece of plastic wrap over the container and press it down so it sits directly on top of the guacamole and up the sides of the container. You can also take 1-2 of the avocado pits and nestle it into the avocado then squeeze the lime juice and cover. We use these storage methods every time and have found we can make the guacamole up to 24 hours in advance and it still tastes fresh.

Ingredients

  • 5 ripe avocados
  • 1-2 limes
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp granulated garlic

Instructions

  • Slice the avocados in half and carefully remove the pits. Save 1 or 2 if you plan on storing the guacamole.
  • Add the avocados, juice of 1 lime, salt, and granulated garlic to a bowl and, using a fork, smash the avocado and stir to combine all ingredients. Taste your guacamole and add the juice of the second lime (one half at a time) if you like it with a bit more citrus tang.
  • Enjoy!

Tips for storing

  • If you have leftover guacamole and would like to store it then put it in a container with a lid and spread it out so that the top is flat. Nestle one or two pits into the guacamole and then squeeze lime juice over the top so that the entire surface is covered. Cover with an airtight lid. If using plastic wrap then you'll want to press the plastic wrap down so that it is lying on the surface of the guac and up the edges of the container.
